In Loving Memory of Baby Mikey

On Monday October 30, our dear friends Lauren & David Votano left for work, saying goodbye to their beautiful, healthy boys- 2 year old Massimo and 5 month old Mikey. In the afternoon, they got the call that no parent should ever get. Mikey, the little light filled baby who made everyone smile with his big grins and contagious giggles, could not be woken from his nap.
For Lauren, David and little Massimo, the world has shattered.
In the face of a terrible, tragic loss, there is nothing you can say to ease the despair of a parent who has lost a child. "I am so sorry" never feels like enough. Although they have family & friends to help take care of the arrangements there are so many people asking what they can possibly do to help.
After giving it some thought, in lieu of food/flowers/etc. they would like to see donations go to something that brings joy to others, in the same way that Mikey brought joy to everyone who met him. They will choose a charity, cause, or project for all funds raised once things settle a bit.
They also encourage that notes to the family and memories of Mikey be left here as well. It brings them comfort knowing that Mikey's sweet smile touched so many, all over the world, in his short time on this side.
