In loving memory of Camie Hampton
Donation protected
Camie Hampton was born with heart disease (HLHS) and was given a 10% chance living past the age of 5. She beat the odds against her and lived a great 22 years of life. A year ago, in October 2023, things took a turn, and it was discovered that Camie’s heart was failing, and she needed a transplant. After going through numerous evaluations, Camie was put on the transplant list in May. Thursday, October 3rd, everyone’s prayers were answered, and the call had finally come through that a heart match was found and the transplant would take place Saturday, October 5th, 2024. Camie was so excited to start this next chapter of her adult life and anyone who knows Camie, knows she deserved that and more. The surgery was successful, and everything seemed to be going the way everyone had hoped, but, the following day, she went into cardiac arrest. Thankfully, with the great work of the doctors, she was revived. She fought so hard, as she had been her whole life. As the hours turned to days, her organs began to shut down (new heart, kidneys, liver, and possible brain damage due to the cardiac arrest). We are heartbroken to share the passing of Camie, who left us on October 10th. Camie was a beloved young woman who brought so much joy to everyone's lives. She will be missed deeply.
As the family navigates this difficult time, they are faced with unexpected expenses related to her medical bills, funeral arrangements, and much more. The family wants to give Camie the farewell she deserves, but the costs are overwhelming. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and will be deeply appreciated.
Thank you to every one of you for your love, support, and kindness during this challenging time. Camie will forever be in our hearts!
