It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to Catherine Hinton.
Catherine was loved and cherished by many. She had a big, beautiful smile, a great laugh and the amazing ability to always make others feel better with her presence and kind words.
Catherine dedicated her life to her friendships, her parents, a career of raising funds for the causes she was passionate about and most importantly to her cherished Katie.
Catherine’s biggest joy in life was Katie. There was never a day where she did not gush with pride about her beautiful daughter. As a single mother she often struggled to balance her career and her time with Katie. Her big heart would often donate so much of her own money to the charities she loved. She did this even when it was difficult on a single income.
Most of us know she always struggled with her health, but she always remained a fighter. In March 2019 she got pneumonia and unfortunately that was the beginning of further decline. In 2020 her kidney failed and she was put on dialysis and then she had a blood clot in her heart. Near the end of 2020 she suffered a stroke and was in and out of the hospital. On April 16th, 2021 she had another stroke and had to be intubated and put on a ventilator, she passed away peacefully on April 18th.
During all of this, Katie has had to carry the burden of financially supporting her mom, for the last few years. Katie and Catherine shared a condo together in Toronto. Katie had to move this winter as she could not afford to stay on her income alone. She had to put all Catherine’s belongings in storage and is paying a significant amount yearly. Those close to Catherine know that her only wish would be to give Katie the best life possible. We want to ensure this exceptional young woman can shoulder all of this and help her to pay for any costs she has incurred. Please help us to ensure that Catherine’s wishes are honoured and her love for Katie shines on. Since we are not able to attend a funeral because of the pandemic, we ask that you make a gift to support Katie in honour of an incredible person we all loved.
