In Loving Memory of Charmaine Li

On October 15, 2023, my mother, passed away in our home of late stage pancreatic cancer. She had been fighting for over a year desperately and there was a time that we thought she had won after a horrifying period of surgery after surgery, slowly but surely removing the tumor at the cost of her pancreus and large ammount functionality of her digestive system. But the cancer came back twice as agressive and she went from being able to cheerfully fly to New York alone and treat me to dinner to being confined to her bed 24/7 on oxygen support.

This all happened during a very intense and hectic time for our family and as my father nearly lost his job due to having to spend more time to take care of my mother and I was about to graduate high school and apply for college I opted to turn down my acceptance letters to stay with my mother and spend more time with her and started ditching my classes to spend more time with her and also due the situation taking a massive toll on my mental health as we were also in risk of losing the house due to nearly being unable to meet the monthly payments.

I want to be crystal clear on why I am asking for financial assistance so I will explain in this portion

Help my father pay off the exhorbetent ammount of medical fees which totaled over 700,000$ not including the funeral and cemetary costs.

We knowingly made the decision to have her stay at home for her final weeks and days even though it was highly expensive and uncovered by insurance because we wanted her to spend her final weeks in the home we lived in for over a decade surrounded by the family and friends who love her instead of the dreary depressing enviorment we call a hospital where we had limited visiting hours. We had to rent the hospital equipment and also hire a caretaker to teach us which greatly drained my fathers bank account.

  • This is the hospital style reclining bed we had rented in her bed room.

The reason why I am asking months after the over deal as our fianances have still not recovered as we are only able to afford to pay off our house through my fathers extensive stock portfolial which he had built up with his savings since he immigrated to the US back in the 90s. He had taken a large loss back in 2020 due to pulling out too late around covid which would have normally been fine but he was forced to liquidate a large ammount of his portfolial to pay for my mothers surgeries and medical fees and I don't know we don't know if we can keep the house at this rate even as though I have also been working for the past couple of months.

I know my father is too proud to ask our extended family and our friends for help so thats why I am here humbly seek your support. Please dont feel this as a pressure to donate anything beyond your own means or anything at all. My families troubles do not even hold a light to your own prosperity or your families well being. But If you do have a couple dollars lying around that you decide to donate. That would mean the world for us

If you do read all the way to this point. I thank you for spending the time to hear out my family's story and whether or not you decide to donate will not affect the the ammount of grattitude I feel towards you for caring enough to hear me out.
