In loving memory of Chris Lane

IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHRIS LANE

Please join Declan in raising money in aid of British Heart Foundation, every donation will help.

On March 25th 2021 my dad Chris sadly passed away unexpectedly and suddenly.

Dad woke up that morning fit and well and at 11am decided to do what he loved best, he jumped on his mountain bike and went for a ride not just a little ride but 4.5hrs ride.

Unfortunately that was dad's last bike ride as whilst out cycling he became unwell.

Dad managed to call for help and was helped home where an ambulance was called.

Dad became very poorly very quickly and suffered a massive fatal heart attack.

The ambulance crew were fantastic and he was rushed to Royal Derby Hospital where they did all they possibly could but unfortunately they could not save my dad.

Dad was loved by everyone and left behind my amazing mum Jane, my brother Barry and myself.

Now we all know that dad was a loving kind person that would never have a bad word to say about anyone, his many friends would say he was a joker and the life and soul of any party.

Dad loved his holidays and walks and often travelled Europe with his very good friend Pete.

As well as holidays and walking dad loved to cycle. He had some great cycling friends (to many to mention) and shared some fantastic cycling ventures over the years.

Dad would never turn down a chance to join friends on a crazy challenge, coast to coast, Lands End to John O'Groats to name a few and many of his biking friends would say "he was a maniac on his bike and didn't know when to slow down"

Dad had been lucky over the years having some nasty accidents on his bike and doing some tremendous damage to himself including a broken shoulder at Cannock Chase which resulted in a full shoulder reconstruction.

After his accidents dad would always laugh them off and eventually get back on his bike and ignore mums advice to slow down.

After dad passed away we realised he had secretly been planning a new venture on his bike and this time he had hoped to cycle to Skegness.

We all know this would have been another crazy idea of dads and at the age of 69 he should have been doing less but we all know that he would have done his best to achieve this goal.

Unfortunately or fortunately whichever way you want to look at it we have another wild cycling fanatic family member wanting to follow in my dads footsteps and that's my youngest son Declan.

Declan is 14 years old and asked if he could possibly continue with the challenge and cycle to Skegness in memory of his Grandad.

This idea was mentioned to dad's close cycling buddies and with the fantastic help and support of Andy, Ady, my great friend Dazza and a few others they are determined to make this happen for Declan but to also raise money for the British Heart Foundation (Declan's choice of charity).

Declan will be taking part in this challenge on the 11th September 2021.

The plan is to cycle from the Nottingham Forest ground (Dad's beloved team) to the Clock Tower at Skegness (79mile)
We will then make our way to the Woolpack Inn at Wainfleet where we will enjoy a drink /meal to celebrate Declan's achievement.

We are kindly asking you all to support Declan in his great venture by donating to a fantastic cause in memory of a loving husband, dad, grandad, brother, son and great friend.

As well as donating there are other ways you are welcome to support.

This can be done by meeting Declan, Ady, and Dazza and the others at their final destination to celebrate their great achievement where then we are hoping to book a place to eat and stay over if needed/wanted.

Anyone wanting to support by physically cycling with Declan and Ady needs to contact Andy Lambert.

Or if you would like any more information or keen to meet up in Skegness please contact myself.

Support may also be needed to help bring any bikes back on the Sunday.

Thank you for all your support.

Angela
