In Loving Memory of Dr. Andrew Gomes

Dr. Andrew Gomes, a beloved husband, father of two, brother, friend and dentist, passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2024. He fought cancer for the last 4 years of his life but leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and kindness.

Andrew was born on January 26th, 1962, in Bangladesh but began his journey in America studying dentistry at NYU. Andrew and his wife, Gigi, then moved to Connecticut where they opened their first practice. There, he quickly earned a reputation from his patients as a trusted dental professional. Driven by a desire to continue growing both personally and professionally, Andrew later settled in Texas and opened a new practice before moving to Maryland. He was dedicated to his profession and was known for putting others’ needs before his own.

Throughout his journey, Andrew never forgot his roots and heritage. He remained deeply connected to his Bengali background by cooking dishes from his childhood. His upbringing also guided him in his interactions with patients and allowed him to be the outstanding individual he was.

Andrew is survived by wife Gigi, his adoring children Leah and Paul, his siblings Shipra, Allen and Dolores Gomes; their families and a wide circle of friends who were fortunate to have known him. His family was his greatest pride, and he will be dearly missed by all of them. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

In honor of Andrew, let us remember the passion he had for life, the love he showed to his family and friends, and the dedication he had to his profession. May his legacy inspire us to live each day to the fullest and embrace the joy of making a difference in the lives of others, just as he did.
