In Loving Memory of David Bejarano Guarnizo

Dear Friends and Family of David Bejarano Guarnizo,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that today on February 1st 2021, David Bejarano Guarnizo, has passed away from covid-19 at only 40 years old. David was a hardworking father, husband, brother, and uncle. 

David was raised in Peru by his siblings after his mother passed away when he was 8 years old. He grew up with no father, grandparents, uncles or cousins. Despite growing up in poverty and lacking economic support, David worked hard and went to university.  He accomplished his dream of becoming a civil engineer. Through his accomplishments, David has implanted the seed of prosperity through education in his future generations. Later, he married his wife Gissela Olortegui and they moved to the US due to his engineering career. He wanted his three children to grow with all the support he didn’t have. He always had great aspirations for his family. He even supported multiple members of his family by helping pay for college, housing, or emergency expenses in what he could. Overall, he has always been there for his family and now it is time we are here for him. 

David started battling with covid at the end of December 2020. Since then, he was in an induced coma and intubated for a month. His condition quickly progressed to an urgent situation. He received multiple sessions of dialysis and then developed multiple organ failure. He was a fighter until the very end. 

Unfortunately, today he leaves behind his mourning wife Gissela and 3 young children: Brana (11), Diego (9), and Nicolle (7). David was the sole source of income for his family. His family has recently had to move in order to reduce the cost of rent. This fund is being gathered in order to help in the cost of unsettled medical expenses, provide some financial support for his wife and children’s housing expenses, and help cover the funeral expenses. 

Any amount—however large or small—will be a great comfort and, we hope, a blessing to you as much as it will be for this family. All donations will go directly to Davids’s wife Gissela Olortegui.

Querida familia y amigos de David Bejarano,

Con una gran tristeza les comunicamos que el día de hoy 1º de febrero, David Bejarano Guarnizo, ha fallecido por covid-19 a la temprana edad de 40 años. David fue un muy buen padre, esposo, hermano y tío. 

David fue criado en Perú por sus hermanos después de que falleciera su madre cuando él tenía tan solo 8 añitos. Creció sin padre, abuelos, tíos o primos. A pesar de haber crecido en pobreza y sin apoyo económico, David trabajó muy duro y con mucho esfuerzo logró ir a la universidad y graduarse como ingeniero civil. A través de sus logros, David ha sembrado la prosperidad a través de la educación en su familia. Después de su educación, se casó con su esposa Gissela Olórtegui y se mudaron a Estados Unidos por motivos de trabajo en su carrera de ingeniería. Él quería que sus tres hijos crecieran con todo el apoyo que él no tuvo. Siempre tuvo grandes aspiraciones para su familia. Incluso apoyó a varios miembros de la familia ayudando a pagar algunos gastos de la universidad, vivienda y gastos de emergencias en lo que pudo. En general, siempre ha estado ahí para su familia y ahora es el momento de que nosotros estemos aquí para él. 

David comenzó a luchar contra covid a finales de diciembre de 2020. Desde entonces, estuvo en un coma inducido y también estuvo intubado durante un mes. Su condición empeoró rápidamente hasta llegar a una situación crítica. Recibió múltiples sesiones de diálisis y luego desarrolló fallas de varios órganos. Fue un luchador hasta el final. 

Desafortunadamente, hoy deja viuda a su esposa Gissela y a sus 3 hijos pequeños: Brana (11), Diego (9) y Nicolle (7). David era la única fuente de ingresos de su familia. Recientemente, su familia ha tenido que mudarse para reducir el costo del alquiler de apartamento. Estamos reuniendo este fondo para ayudar a la familia de David con el costo de los gastos médicos pendientes, para proporcionar apoyo financiero para los gastos de vivienda de su esposa e hijos y ayudar a cubrir los gastos del funeral. 

Cualquier cantidad, ya sea grande o pequeña, será bienvenida y de alguna manera nos ayudará a aliviar algunas preocupaciones y, esperamos, que cualquier ayuda sea una bendición para usted tanto como lo será para esta familia. Todas las donaciones irán directamente a la esposa de David, Gissela Olortegui.
