In loving memory of Donna-Mae Coates

I, Cariel Coates, started this fundraiser on behalf of my loving mom who has passed away. My mom was the true definition of love, resilience, strength and faith. She has touched and impacted many lives, especially through her role as a teacher. She grew up in the small island of Antigua and Barbuda. She lived her life giving her best and spread joy and happiness with her smile and personality. My mom had a way of naturally making people feel warm and accepted. Her ability to fight through many obstacles, tough situations and sickness taught me the true meaning of "never giving up the fight". She never let anything steal her joy, and even with tears, there were always words of hope she had to offer. Now she can rest peacefully... she no longer needs to fight. Her journey hasn't been easy, but it has inspired me to live my life with purpose.
The talented, brave, and passionate woman that I am today is because of my mom. She always supported my dreams to be a musician/singer. I moved to the U.S. years ago on a student visa to study and pursue those dreams. Being an international student made it very difficult to be away from my mom during her sickness. Medical bills, tuition fees, and other expenses contributed to the financial strains my family has experienced throughout the years. As a current international student, I have work restrictions that have made it difficult to financially contribute to the needs my family has had with my mom's sickness.
My family and I are now given more financial challenges as we prepare for my mom's funeral. Your contributions at this time will help with her transfer from the U.S. back to her home in Antigua and other expenses. If you've personally known my mom and she has impacted you in any way, you can donate or share this link. If you have never met her and would love to donate, know that your kindness and support during these times are appreciated.
