In Loving Memory of Emiliano Hernandez
Donation protected
Emiliano Hernandez passed away on April 28th 2020, due to complications with Covid-19.
After a week of showing light symptoms, Emiliano drove himself to PIH Health Downey Hospital where he fought the virus courageously for two days before needing a ventilator. Unfortunately, after a lifelong battle with his health the virus got the best of him.
At age 42, Emiliano leaves behind his daughter who is 15 years old. Emilianos love for his daughter was unconditional and unmatched. Emliano would sacrifice everything for the wellbeing of his daughter. Emiliano also leaves behind his mother who he loved and cared for dearly.
In his final days all he cared about was the well being of the two most important women in his life. I am creating this GoFundMe to fulfill his final wishes, to support his mother and daughter.
I was in third grade when my teacher asked me to step outside the classroom because I had a visitor. Emiliano was waiting for me… He had volunteered to work with at-risk youth in his community as a student at UC Berkeley (a clear representation of his character), and as a first generation latino(myself), we were a perfect fit. Although the program was supposed to last only one year, Emiliano stayed in my life and served as my big brother for 25 years. He took on a role that I didn't even know I needed. Emiliano was there through both the best and worst time of my life. I can guarantee that I would not be the educated professional I am today if it were not for everything Emiliano has ever done for me.
Emiliano, was an exceptional father and role model. He made sure to always put his daughter first. I have never met a father who would be so selfless and invested in the well being of his child, much like he did for me when we met many years ago. He tried to create many lasting memories with her, visiting colleges, taking sporadic short trips, all while trying to expand his daughter's horizons, and never lowering his expectations. He would share with his daughter his thoughts and hopes for her future. He was the definition of a DAD - Dedicated and Devoted -
With your help, through GoFundMe, I would like to help support Mercy Hernandez(Emiliano's Mom) in a few ways:
First, I would like to support Emilianos mother with funeral expenses.
Second, I would like to help cover the cost to help transport all his belongings from LA to Sacramento. This includes cleaning and packing the room he rented, and also cleaning and transporting his vehicle.
Third, any money left over would set up a Trust Fund that would directly support Emilianos daughter's educational expenses.
Anyone who knew Emiliano, would know how much it would mean to him for his daughter to have all the support possible to pursue any higher educational goals.
Update as of 4/29/2020: Due to the overwhelming support, I increased our goal to $20,000.00. I want to personally thank everyone for your contribution.
I hope to raise at least $10,000(Updated to $20,000):
First $2000(Updated to 4000): To help with funeral expenses
Second $3000(estimate): To help get his belongings back to Sacramento
Third $5000(updated to $13,000): Any additional money will be used to set up a Trust for Emilianos daughter (his wishes)
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please take care of your loved ones and follow all CDC recommendations to help fight and slow the spread of Covid-19. It is very real and extremely dangerous.
