Help me in supporting In Loving Memory Of GRANNY ENA

Granny Ena Marne was more than just a mother, grandmother, and sister—she was a pillar of strength, a nurturer, and a woman of deep resilience. A mother of five and a grandmother to thirteen, Granny Ena had spent her entire life caring for others. She was an incredible cook, a natural caregiver, my granny who had taken on the responsibility of looking after her severely ill mother. To those who knew her, she was more than family; she was a mother figure to everyone she touched.

But when she needed care the most, the very system meant to protect the vulnerable failed her.

In 2019, Granny Ena began showing early signs of mental health struggles. Her family, wanting only the best for her, worked hard to bring her to Canada, hoping she would receive the care and stability she needed. But arriving during the pandemic only made her adjustment more difficult. She struggled in an unfamiliar place, her condition worsening in isolation. When she finally saw a doctor, she was diagnosed with dementia and diabetes—two illnesses that required consistent medical attention.

However, because she was an immigrant without full healthcare coverage, getting her treatment became a battle. Bureaucracy and cruel regulations turned what should have been a basic right into an impossible luxury. The healthcare system demanded cash upfront for hospital visits, medications, and tests—expenses that her family simply couldn’t afford. Her eldest daughter which is mom and granny’s Ena other children who had already sacrificed so much to care for her, did everything in her power to keep Granny Ena healthy, but without the necessary medical support, her condition deteriorated.

Her life could have been prolonged. She could have been given the dignity of proper care. But instead, she was left to suffer, a victim of a system that devalues the lives of immigrants—especially those who are vulnerable due to age, illness, or financial instability.

Now, as we grieve, we are also struggling with the financial burden of laying her to rest. The healthcare system denied her care, and now we are facing overwhelming costs for her funeral. In addition, we are dealing with the failure of an immigration lawyer who neglected to do her job, making it even harder for us to secure the necessary documents that could have helped Granny Ena get the support she deserved.

We are reaching out to our community, friends, and anyone who believes in justice and compassion. If you can contribute in any way—whether through donations, sharing our story, or offering guidance—we would deeply appreciate your support. Every little bit helps in ensuring Ena receives the dignity she deserves in her passing, and in holding accountable those who failed her.

For those who are willing to help, we welcome you with open hearts. Granny Ena always made everyone feel at home, and we hope that same spirit of warmth and care will come back to us in this difficult time.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for standing with us as we fight for justice—not just for Granny Ena, but for all immigrants who are neglected by the systems meant to protect them. Please help us in supporting our granny, grandmas are backbones of our family and we truly want to make sure granny Ena is sent off in best way ever!
