In Loving Memory of Ernestine Ryan Smith

Ernestine "Ernie" Ryan Smith's soul departed unexpectedly on Sunday, October 9th, leaving many of us with heavy hearts. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GG), sister, aunt and friend. She was larger than life & so fierce yet contained in such a small package. The impression she made upon meeting her was unforgettable yet unique for each of us.

For her family, being the matriarch brought her immense joy. Full of life experiences and learned wisdom, she encouraged us to reach for the things we desired, guiding us to accomplish & stand up for what we believe in. She was our fiercest warrior, facing & attacking challenges head-on, conquering them with all of us cheering alongside her. Her generosity is legendary among her loved ones, always looking for some way to lend a hand and help. There was no task too large or request too great; if she knew of it, it was getting done. Her work ethic was an accomplishment that benefited her family and professional relationships. She was strong in mind, body and soul.

When we encounter others who knew her, their delight in sharing funny anecdotes and appreciation for her friendship never gets old. We've been overwhelmed with an outpouring of love, sadness & condolences from so many that also feel the need to acknowledge her loss and express a desire in some way to participate in saying farewell.
