It is with great sadness to share that our dear friend Estrella Catalan passed away yesterday ( Friday) 5th February 2021, after her long and hard battle with COVID-19. She is only 52.She fought with all her strength and will doing all she could to get back to her beloved husband Melvin and their sons John and Josh. The family already suffered the great loss of their second son Vince 2 years ago( May he rest in peace). Our deepest condolences to the whole family.
Estrella promised her family, “ I will be back” when she was taken to the hospital few weeks ago. Sadly, a promise that she could no longer physically keep after succumbing to such devastating effects of this virus being treated in ITU for weeks.
However, all the great memories of her as a loving, dedicated and caring wife to Melvin, best Mom to her boys, to her family friends and colleagues will be kept alive in our hearts forever.
The whole Filipino community, friends and work colleagues in Norwich are profoundly saddened and shocked of her passing.
Estrella had been working as a Staff Nurse in Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust for nearly 20 years since she arrived in UK from the Philippines. To her colleagues, she is most caring, conscientious and hardworking person a department could ask for. She puts the needs of others first before her own. Her selflessness and dedication carried on even when she was on her hospital bed, she still thought and talked about when she could go back to work to help patients and colleagues throughout this pandemic.
The family had gone through so much devastation and great loss .
As friends and colleagues , we wanted to give Estrella the memorial she deserves, honour her memory and say our last goodbyes.
Please consider helping out her beloved family on this toughest time as they are going through this tragedy and moving forward with their life without her.
The money we could raise will be a financial support to her family, two children and will also help support on funeral expenses.
This is a special way to pay tribute to our dear friend and colleague.
Estrella to friends , is very compassionate, loving, fun and caring. With such a sudden and unexpected death we are left broken. As a community, we are here to support each other in this time of sadness and difficulty.
You will be dearly missed Ate Estrella.
Rest in peace.
