In Loving Memory of Federico Ottaviani

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Fede, who left us far too soon at the age of 47 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Fede was more than just a friend; he was a source of light, laughter, and joy to everyone around him. His sense of humor and warm spirit could brighten any room, and his ability to put a smile on people’s faces was truly a gift. He showed us that—no matter what life throws our way—courage, heart, and playful kindness can lift us up.

Fede leaves behind his beloved wife, Chiara, and four beautiful children: Maria Vittoria (15), Valentina (14), Giovanni (12), and Tommaso (8), who meant the world to him. In addition to his family here and in Italy, his passing is deeply felt by his friends in UK and Italy. Though his journey was challenging, Fede faced it with incredible strength, grace, and unwavering love for his family.

As we try to come to terms with this heartbreaking loss, we, as friends and colleagues, wish to honor Fede’s memory by supporting his family through this difficult time, allowing them to grieve and heal without the added worries of future financial needs.

If you’d like to contribute, any donation, big or small, will go directly to his family and would be deeply appreciated as a testament to the love and friendship Fede inspired in all of us.

We miss him dearly and will always remember him for the joy he brought into our lives. Let us come together to celebrate his life, his laughter, and the beautiful memories he gave us.

The funeral will be held on March 6th at 11 AM at St. Luke’s RC Church, Love Lane, Pinner, HA5 3EE (Greater London).

Update 01/03/25: Federico will be buried in Italy so there will not be a burial service. A reception will follow in the Parish Church Hall.

Update 07/03/25: Approximately 400 people attended the funeral yesterday. As the family wished, the reception that followed became a beautiful celebration of Federico’s life, filled with shared stories and the many jokes for which he was known. As a small but meaningful tribute, we have added to the campaign a group photo taken in the Parish Hall towards the end of the reception, capturing about half of those who remained.

Federico’s wife, Chiara, would also like to share this message:

"The children and I were deeply moved yesterday by the number of people who came to mourn and celebrate Federico. He was truly a great man, and the void he has left in our lives will never be filled. But your friendship and love will help make it a little easier to bear. Thank you with all our hearts."

Con il cuore colmo di dolore, condividiamo la notizia della scomparsa del nostro caro amico e collega Fede, che ci ha lasciati troppo presto all'età di 47 anni dopo una coraggiosa battaglia di quattro anni contro il cancro. Fede era molto più di un amico: era una fonte di luce, risate e gioia per tutti coloro che lo circondavano. Il suo senso dell'umorismo e il suo spirito caloroso potevano illuminare qualsiasi stanza, e la sua capacità di far sorridere le persone era davvero un dono. Ci ha mostrato che, qualunque cosa la vita ci riservi, il coraggio, il cuore e una gentilezza giocosa possono sollevarci.

Fede lascia la sua amata moglie, Chiara, e i suoi quattro splendidi figli: Maria Vittoria (15), Valentina (14), Giovanni (12) e Tommaso (8), che erano tutto per lui. Oltre alla sua famiglia qui e in Italia, la sua scomparsa è profondamente sentita anche dai suoi cari amici in UK e Italia. Nonostante le difficoltà del suo percorso, Fede lo ha affrontato con incredibile forza, grazia e un amore incrollabile per la sua famiglia.

Mentre affrontiamo questa dolorosa perdita, desideriamo come amici e colleghi di Fede onorarne la memoria sostenendo la sua famiglia in questo momento difficile per aiutarli a vivere il lutto e guarire senza le preoccupazioni legate alle spese future.

Se vi sentite di contribuire, qualsiasi donazione, grande o piccola, andra' direttamente alla famiglia e sarà profondamente apprezzata come una testimonianza dell’amore e dell’amicizia che Fede ha ispirato in tutti noi.

Ci manca immensamente e lo ricorderemo sempre per la gioia che ha portato nelle nostre vite. Uniamoci per celebrare la sua vita, il suo sorriso e i meravigliosi ricordi che ci ha lasciato.

Il funerale si terra' il 6 Marzo alle 11 del mattino nella Parrocchia di St. Luke's Roman Catholic, in Love Lane, Pinner, HA53EE (Greater London).

Aggiornamento 01/03/25: Federico sara' sepolto in Italia per cui non ci sara' alcun servizio al cimitero locale. Dopo il funerale, seguirà un rinfresco nella sala della chiesa parrocchiale.

Aggiornamento 07/03/25: Circa 400 persone hanno partecipato al funerale ieri. Come desiderato dalla famiglia, il ricevimento che è seguito si è trasformato in una bellissima celebrazione della vita di Federico, arricchita da racconti e dalle tante battute per cui era conosciuto. Come piccolo ma significativo omaggio, abbiamo aggiunto alla campagna una foto di gruppo scattata nella sala parrocchiale verso la fine del ricevimento, che ritrae circa la metà dei presenti.

La moglie di Federico, Chiara, desidera condividere questo messaggio:

"I bambini ed io siamo stati profondamente toccati dalla quantità di persone che ieri sono venute a piangere e celebrare Federico. Era davvero un uomo straordinario, e il vuoto che ha lasciato nelle nostre vite non potrà mai essere colmato. Ma la vostra amicizia e il vostro affetto ci aiuteranno a renderlo un po’ più sopportabile. Grazie di cuore."

ADDENDUM TO COMPLY WITH GOFUNDME’S COMPLIANCE (28/02/25):

Beneficiary of the campaign: The funds raised will go to Federico’s family, specifically his wife, Chiara Ferrario. Chiara’s bank account has been designated for the transfer of funds, and she is currently in the process of setting it up as the beneficiary. The campaign will remain open at least until early April (or longer, depending on the flow of donations), with all funds transferred directly to Chiara’s account at the end.

Organizer of the campaign: The campaign is organized by Alessandro Giudici, Professor of Strategy at Bayes Business School and a close friend of Federico and his family. Alessandro and his family live near Federico’s family. His wife is the Godmother of Federico’s two daughters, and all their children share a close bond. Alessandro is managing this campaign on behalf of Federico’s friends and colleagues, who sought Chiara’s permission. She entrusted Alessandro with overseeing the effort.

ADDENDUM PER RISPETTARE LE RICHIESTE DI CONFORMITÀ DI GOFUNDME (28/02/25):

Beneficiario della campagna: I fondi raccolti saranno destinati alla famiglia di Federico, in particolare a sua moglie, Chiara Ferrario. Il conto bancario di Chiara è stato designato per il trasferimento dei fondi, e attualmente è in fase di registrazione come beneficiario. La campagna resterà aperta almeno fino all’inizio di aprile (o più a lungo, a seconda del flusso di donazioni), e tutti i fondi verranno trasferiti direttamente sul conto di Chiara al termine.

Organizzatore della campagna: La campagna è organizzata da Alessandro Giudici, Professore di Strategia presso la Bayes Business School e caro amico di Federico e della sua famiglia. Alessandro e la sua famiglia vivono vicino alla famiglia di Federico. Sua moglie è la madrina delle due figlie di Federico e i loro figli sono molto legati tra loro.
