In loving memory of Florence C. Cherry
Donation protected
Our mother, Florence was a champion of indigenous people, women and the poor. On countless occasions, she sacrificed her material and physical well-being in order to help others. She fed and taught street kids in Ecuador and Brazil, supported indigenous friends in Argentina going so far as to walk with them across the Chaco dessert. In China she helped countless orphans who came to our city for heart operations. She would sit with them everyday at the hospital, and have fundraisers for toys and blankets.
One of her most precious connections was with a beggar who was an amputee. She adopted him as her son, made sure he had physical therapy and a new leg and championed him so that he could rebuild his life, have his own business and reunite with his wife and daughter who were in another province.
Our mother did so much for others yet often forgot about herself - including her end of life plans. Her family would like to honor her memory in a respectful way. All funds used will go to funeral expenses.
