In Loving Memory of Gerald Cruz

July 1, 2018 this date will be forever etched in our hearts, but especially for Chrissy. The day her family's world was turned upside down.

Just 2 weeks after meeting his beautiful baby girl, Gerald passed away so very suddenly and unexpectedly.

He has left behind a devoted loving wife, and his beloved children. Daddy's little boys, Tristan and Rockwell, 4 and 2. And 2 week old Jolina, his princess.

We are undoubtedly mourning the loss of an incredible person. Since his death there has been a flood of grief shared by so many people, as well as remembrances of Gerald and the love they have for him. He always greeted everyone with a smile and open arms. He was always willing to help anyone with anything they needed, big or small. Didn't matter to him as long as he could help in some way. He truly cared about others and went out of his way to make people feel comfortable and special. A genuinely great and humble man. The love, dedication, and adoration for Chrissy and his children was evident in everything he did, as his family was his world.

If you don't mind reading more, I'd like to share a little bit of their loving, tender, and tragic story.

Chrissy and Gerald began dating when they were just teenagers. The love they have for each other is undeniable; role models to many. "Power couple" is the term that comes to mind instantly. They married just 8 years ago and were excited to start planning for a family. They were ecstatic to welcome their very first baby boy just a couple of years after getting married. And 2 years after that they were so very excited to add another baby boy to the family. There was a family joke that the Cruz genes only produced male offspring, so they were overjoyed to learn that they were expecting a girl the third time around. Baby girl was due to arrive July 11th, but Chrissy began showing signs of preeclampsia towards the end of May so she was scheduled to be induced June 20th. However, Chrissy's blood pressure spiked so she was induced on June 16th instead. The whole family was over the moon excited that Jolina was finally here. Over the next 2 weeks they were on cloud nine, spending family time together and making so many plans for the summer before the boys go to school and Chrissy's maternity leave ends. Then on a Sunday morning, their world came crashing down when Gerald collapsed and was rushed out of their home in an ambulance, never to return.

Chrissy is now faced with the unimaginable task of carrying on without her beloved husband and father to their 3 little children. This is Chrissy's new reality as she faces the challenges of being a single mother who needs to provide for her family.
