In Loving Memory of Giovanni Ortiz

Sadly, Giovanni Ortiz who was only 14 years old lost his life on December 7, 2020, to a senseless act of gun violence. I cannot fathom to think what the days ahead will be like knowing that we will not see Gio’s beautiful smile, hear his unforgettable laugh, or his silly jokes, at least in this lifetime. Since this happened so unexpectedly and with all of the current financial hardships the Ortiz family is experiencing they are not able to afford Gio a burial because of the increasing COVID costs at the funeral homes. As any parent, we would want to give our child a proper burial and one that he deserves.  The family currently cannot afford to have Gio transferred to the funeral home from the hospital nor have any burial services provided to him as the cost is over $15,000 dollars.  We kindly ask for donations, any help or amount is very much appreciated.  Last, on behalf of my cousins Brenda & Heraclio Ortiz they want to thank all family, friends, and community for the support during this difficult time and we ask you to please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. Lamentablemente, Giovanni Ortiz, que solo tenía 14 años, perdió la vida el 7 de diciembre de 2020 en un acto sin sentido con arma de fuego. No puedo imaginarme cómo serán los días que vienen sabiendo que no veremos la hermosa sonrisa de Gio, ni escucharemos su risa inolvidable o sus bromas graciosas, al menos en esta vida. Dado que esto sucedió de manera tan inesperada y con todas las dificultades financieras actuales que la familia Ortiz está percibiendo, no pueden pagarle a Gio un entierro debido a los crecientes costos de COVID en las funerarias. Como cualquier padre, quisiéramos darle a nuestro hijo un entierro adecuado y uno que se merece. Actualmente, la familia no puede trasladar a Gio a la funeraria desde el hospital ni que se le proporcione ningún servicio de entierro, ya que el costo es de más de $15,000 dólares. Pedimos amablemente donaciones, cualquier ayuda o cantidad es muy apreciada. Por último, en nombre de mis primos Brenda y Heraclio Ortiz, quieren agradecer a toda la familia, amigos y comunidad por el apoyo durante este momento difícil y les pedimos que por favor mantengan a la familia en sus pensamientos y oraciones.
