In loving memory of Harlene Nuestro Picar
Donation protected
This is Harlene Nuestro Picar. She was someone's niece, cousin, coworker, daughter, and best friend, and she was the best sister I could have ever asked for. She was kindhearted, loving, thoughtful, and always cared for all the people in her life. She was an avid K-drama watcher, a BTS stan (Jungkook was her bias), and her favorite love team couple was KathNiel (if you're Filipino, you know what I'm talking about). She was never afraid to speak her mind and was always open about how she felt. I believe her love language was gift-giving. Her generosity is evident in almost anything she does in life. She always contacted me if I wanted anything from Starbucks (she loved that place). When I got my ears pierced one day, she immediately ordered a bunch of earrings on Amazon for me to wear and surprised me with them a week after. When she got Airpods, she bought another pair for me to use a month later. Those are just some examples, to name a few. She wasn't one to hold anyone back; quite the opposite. She supported me in all my dreams and future endeavors in any way she could. Ultimately, she's the reason I am who I am today. She dreamt of getting her driver's license, attending college, returning to her part-time job, and becoming a flight attendant one day. But, due to her sickness of having multiple seizures weekly, her dreams were cut short.
Harlene is believed to have suffered from SUDEP, which stands for Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, SUDEP is a rare case where more than 1 in 1,000 people with epilepsy die yearly. Because of SUDEP, Harlene suffered brain death, and her death was confirmed on October 11, 2022. The rest of Harlene's body is healthy, apart from her brain, so we decided that she would be donating her organs. Harlene will have the ability to live on and save other people's lives.
We humbly ask for any help, whether that's sharing Harlene's story, posting this GoFundMe link on your social media accounts, or donating your own money. Anything helps, and we thank you in advance.
Love,
The Picar Family.
