In Loving Memory of Indarjit Maraj

Our dear teacher and friend, Savina Maraj, lost her beloved father, Indarjit Maraj, to the Covid-19 virus on Wednesday April 28th 2020. Anyone who had the privilege of being in the company of Mr. Maraj knows how selfless, generous, spirited, witty, and lively he was to everyone. He had a youthful eagerness to try anything, even taking the Polar Bear plunge this past winter at the age of 73 with his beloved daughter, who led him joyfully into the sea in this picture.

Full of a zest for life, Mr. Maraj would regularly go with his daughter on many outings with her friends, all of whom adored his sense of humor, his big, kind heart and that special twinkle in his eye.  Every day in the summer, father and daughter would set out to Long Beach in the early morning to find the perfect spot on the sand to plant their chairs and enjoy the peace and quiet in each other’s tender company. He loved spending time by the ocean, riding the waves.

We are raising money to dedicate a bench in Long Beach in Indarjit Maraj’s name to honor the memory of his robust, beautiful life and to honor the vibrant memories shared with his adoring family. Any donation however modest will be greatly appreciated and will also go toward supporting the Maraj family.
