In Loving Memory of Iris Curbelo

Donation protected
Iris Curbelo was a beautiful mother, wife, sister, daughter, cousin and amazing friend to many people. Being a teacher was her passion - she taught at Michigan City, Laporte and East Chicago Indiana elementary schools, specifically Crichfield, Pine, Harrison and McKinley. She was also a U.S. Army veteran who served overseas during the Iraq War.

In December of 2022, a malignant brain tumor was found, which led to brain surgery earlier this year in January 2023. Just a few months later in May, she was admitted back into the hospital due to severe migraines, where she was then diagnosed with brain cancer. After a long and hard battle, she passed away on July 12, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her Husband Victor, her 4 children, Ivyanna, Chloe, Isaiah, Isaac, her 6 siblings, Ruby, Eric, Alexa, Angel, Tiki, Luis and her parents Lucy and Miguel.

Iris was loved by so many people. She touched so many lives and had an impact on everyone she crossed paths with. We could be out shopping and there she was, making new friendships with strangers she had never met before. It’s so heartbreaking to know she is no longer here because the world could really use more people like her, but we all know she was saved and one day we will all be reunited once more at the gates of Heaven.

Any donations that can be made will go directly to the Curbelo family to help cover funeral expenses during this extremely difficult time.
