Jewell was especially passionate about helping her church, Beth Eden, with the building fund and the church ministries. In place of flowers, the family welcomes donations to her spiritual home, Beth Eden Baptist Church in Chicago Illinois, to honor her memory.

Her Life and Legacy

Jewell was an eager participant in her various community activities. She served as a block organizer for the neighborhood watch group. Her passions included her family, her faith in the Lord, cooking, sewing, and maintaining her large flower and vegetable gardens. Known in the community for her green thumb, she was an inspiration to her neighbors for her garden produced each year.

She grew, canned, bottled, and shared the best locally grown produce on the Southside of Chicago. She had an extensive flower collection with some of the most beautiful flowers both in her garden and inside her home. As an outstanding cook, friends and family would stop by to get produce or meals that Jewell had grown and prepared. She was a focal point of family activities and enjoyed spending holidays, family reunions, and moments surrounded by her loving family.
