In Loving Memory of Jomani "JoJo" Wright #11

Jomani "JoJo" Wright was a shining star in our Riverside Hawks program. On Wednesday, January 27, 2021, JoJo tragically was taken from us too soon when he lost his life in a car accident in Nassau County, Long Island, New York. He was just 15 years old.
Everyone knew JoJo at Riverside. Even if you didn’t play on his team, you still knew him. The Riverside staff, the coaches, the younger and older players in the program, all had some relationship with JoJo. He was that brightest star with a personality to match! He was a natural born leader, a hard worker and the epitome of heart over height. Jojo loved to eat; don't let his little frame fool you, he was never one to turn down a good meal or snack. Always one of the funniest wisecrackers on the team, who had a knack for making you smile. A true jokester and loved a good prank, but always offered kind words of encouragement to share with his teammates if they were having a bad game. Family is always first, and JoJo was such a special kid on and off the court. From the many sleepovers, weekend AAU trips, and parties that we all as teammates had the pleasure of enjoying. To the lasting friendships and bonds that he built with your boys even after he left the program. That is a testament to the type of young man he was.
Jojo represented Hawk Pride…an honor roll student, kind, caring, empathetic, compassionate, outspoken and respectful. To say that we here at Riverside are devastated.... it just simply doesn't describe the range of emotions our community is feeling. From players, to coaches, to family... We ALL at Riverside want to express our deepest and sincere condolences to Kiki, Joe, Josiah and the rest of his family and friends. We know that no amount of money will soothe the depths of the pain, but we hope we can ease any burdens. On behalf of the Riverside Hawks, we thank you in advance for your generosity.
