On October 22nd, 2024, my brother, Joseph Maku was reported missing. On November 29th, 2024, we received news that my brother Joseph Maku has passed away.

When Joseph first went missing, we were all shocked. Now, we are absolutely devastated with the news, and have to shift our focus while also mourning this loss in our family.

15 years ago, my father, Dominic Maku, passed away from liver cancer. Since then, my mom, Rose Juan, has been raising all five of us Maku children singlehandedly. Hours have been spent working, providing for us, keeping a roof over our heads, and doing anything and everything she can to make sure that we are all in good health. Since Joseph went missing, she has not been able to work, and now that Joseph has passed away, her returning to work soon becomes less likely.

The funds we receive will support us with the following, any amount is appreciated:

Funeral/Burial Expenses*
Housing (rent)
Essentials/food/groceries
Bills (electricity, cable, internet, gas, etc.)
Counselling/mental wellness

The love and support extended our way continues to give us strength to go through this very difficult time, we are thankful for each and every single one of you. As of right now, the cause of death is under investigation by BC Coroners Service.
