In loving memory of Kate Scarpato

My name is Megan Coggins and I am starting a fundraiser for my sister Kate’s family. Kate was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer last year. Tragically, she passed away at age 54 on July 23 after bravely fighting a long, hard battle.

Kate was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was a special person who cared deeply for her family and friends. Kate was the heart and soul of her family and was a caretaker for all of her loved ones.

While Kate’s husband & children are grieving her immeasurable loss, they are also bearing a very difficult financial situation. Kate’s husband Phil, who was Kate’s main caregiver during her illness, lost his job in December 2022. Her daughter, Emily, put her career plans on hold to take care of her mother, run the household and help care for her younger sister, Julia. Phil is now burdened with medical bills, household expenses, college next year for Julia, and planning for the future.
