In Loving Memory of Kimberly Alston:

A Lifelong Caregiver and Community Champion

On the morning of February 22nd, we lost an incredible woman—Kimberly, a devoted mother, grandmother, and tireless community servant. For over 25 years, Kimberly dedicated herself to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many children and families.

As a school bus driver, Kimberly didn’t just drive a bus; she served as a protector, a caretaker, and a trusted figure in the lives of the children she transported. Every morning and afternoon, she ensured that each child was safely brought to school and returned home, always with a smile and a heart full of care. Kimberly’s role went beyond her job title—she truly saw herself as a guardian for the children, treating each one as if they were her own.

In addition to her work as a bus driver, Kimberly also contributed to the school community in the cafeteria, where she found joy in providing meals and spreading kindness. She took immense pride in being part of the team that made the school experience better for every child she encountered.

Kimberly leaves behind her son, Deshawn, daughter, Yolonda, and three beloved grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply. While her family will miss her warmth, generosity, and love, her legacy of selflessness and care will continue to inspire those who knew her.

As we lay Kimberly to rest, we are reaching out to our community for support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated as we navigate this difficult time and work to honor Kimberly’s memory with the respectful farewell she deserves.
