In Loving Memory of Kostas Athanasiadis
Donation protected
Konstantinos (Kostas) Athanasiadis, 67, longtime resident of West Haven, CT, met his heavenly maker on March 7, 2021. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side after a prolonged hospitalization due to COVID-19 complications. He was born in Kavala, Greece on November 23, 1953 and was the only child of Ioannis and Elpida Athanasiadis.
After serving in the Greek military for 2 years, he met and married his wife, Noula, of 45 years on August 24, 1975. He immigrated to the United States on March 6, 1976 and settled with his wife’s family in West Haven where he raised his two daughters. He spent many years working at S. J. Pappas as a master woodworker. In 1987, he and his wife became business owners of Star Pizza in Hamden, CT. After 21 years in the restaurant industry, he transitioned to working as a Chef at Yale New Haven Hospital Kitchen Services until his retirement in February 2020.
Upon retirement, Kostas and his wife moved to Rockville, MD to be closer to their family in Washington, DC. His greatest joy was spending time with his daughters, his son-in-law and his three grandsons. He was an avid sports fan who cheered on his favorite football and soccer teams. He was known for his quiet nature and compassionate spirit. He is a man who left his mark on his time here as a hard-working, kind, caring, devoted, and loving father and grandfather. He lived life to its fullest and he refused to waste his precious time here on Earth.
Kostas was preceded in death by his father, Ioannis, and his mother, Elpida. He is his survived by his loving wife, Noula, his two daughters, Lyda and Yanna, his son-in-law, Rich, and his three wonderful grandchildren - Rhys, Asher and Kellan. He will be terribly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to his loving wife in support of her tremendous loss.
