In loving memory of Laura Benham

An angel has been taken from us far too soon. With your support, we can help give Laura's heartbroken family the future she had intended.

Laura was a true treasure of this world. A devoted wife and mother, a wonderful daughter and sister, a true friend and a dedicated teacher. Laura saw the best in everyone; she had a beautiful nature; she was compassionate, intelligent, kind, hilarious, brave and adored by so many.

In September 2020, Laura was diagnosed with ILD, an incurable lung disease. Initially the outlook was good, but further tests revealed how serious this condition was. In early 2021, Laura was told that she would have less than two years to live without a double lung transplant.

Laura was positive, proactive and determined to fight, to be here for her husband and two young children. Laura did everything the medical professionals asked.

Life on the transplant list was very different from the active lifestyle the family once had. Laura was in isolation to reduce the risk of catching COVID. Working from home as a tutor in place of being a classroom teacher. Laura could no longer travel and socialise in person with her extended family and friends.

On Laura's 41st birthday and after 13 months on the transplant list, Laura finally received the call; the transplant was happening. What should have been the best birthday present ever tragically resulted in Laura passing from post-operative complications.

Laura leaves behind a devoted husband, Travis and two young children, Wil and Audrey.

As Laura's friend of 32 years, I am creating this Go Fund Me to honour Laura's wish that her family is cared for. To provide them with the financial freedom to adjust to life without their beautiful wife and mum.
