In Loving Memory of Laura Gardner

Donation protected
Early Thursday morning we lost our beautiful Laura to two massive asthma attacks. The teams at the Royal Alexandra Hospital gave her every fighting chance when they performed a miracle during the first attack bringing her back while her heart stopped for 15 minutes. These incredible teams sat in her room around the clock adjusting machines and monitoring her progress. She appeared to be improving when the second attack occurred and they were not able to revive her. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the teams of nurses, doctors and specialists for doing everything they could to save her - Laura was your family too. It was Laura's wish to donate any and all organs or tissues so that others could benefit from her life.  Unfortunately due to the damage sustained from the asthma attacks, she was not able to donate her organs however her tissues will be donated this weekend.

Laura, who had just turned 38,  was an amazing and loving wife to Darren Miles, sister, friend and mother. She lived for her young children, daughter (4) and son (5),  who don't know what has happened to their mommy.  It now falls on us to show them what a devoted mother she was, and also what a dedicated nurse she was. She had an innate affinity for nursing and enjoyed her work (and her coworkers) immensely. She took great pride in the fact she worked in the ER at the Royal Alex and always had a story to tell about her adventures there.

Laura was also a very talented dancer with so much natural ability. In the last day, we have been reminded of how blessed we are to have such a wonderful support system. We are sure everyone joins us in feeling the overwhelming helplessness during this difficult time. For this reason we have focused our efforts in supporting Darren as he goes forward as a single parent with two small kids.

Laura would have been blown away by all the messages, stories, and support that have come forward from her fellow coworkers and dancing family. A sincere thank you to all who have shared your thoughts and please continuing sharing as your heartfelt comments have been extremely comforting. As Pandora & Link start this new version of life, it's important they understand how loved their mother was and how she touched everyone around her. They will continue to read these messages for years to come and know they are a major part of keeping the memory of their mother alive.
