In Loving Memory of Lily Li and Angela Yang

With a heavy heart, we want to share with our community the sudden and tragic passing of Zheheng (Lily) Li and Angela Yang, beloved mom and sister of Tiki and Miller Wu, wife and daughter of Jianjun (Jacob) Wu.
On Jan. 29, a Black Hawk helicopter collided with an American Airlines flight from Wichita, Kansas at the Ronald Reagan Airport. Lily and Angela (age 11) were on the fateful flight back home from the US Figure Skating Championships and Angela's first National Development Camp.
Our family was shattered instantaneously. Jacob lives and works overseas, Tiki is finishing her senior year at boarding school in New Hampshire, and Miller is now alone in our Delaware home.
Angela was a wonderful skater. She went undefeated this past season in both Juvenile Combined Solo Dance and Juvenile Combined Dance with her partner, Sean Kay, also a victim of the crash. Angela placed silver at the 2024 National Solo Dance Finals and gold at the 2025 US Ice Dance Finals with Sean. They were a beyond talented team and had big plans for the future. Angela asked everyone to watch her become an Olympic champion one day.
Above all, Angela was a joyous soul. Our little girl is remembered to have lit up every room she entered, whether the rinks or elsewhere. Her bright smile and endless enthusiasm were contagious. She was a kind friend, a resilient and disciplined student, and a brilliant artist who touched the lives of all those around her.
Lily was an incredible mother, wife, and friend. She dedicated her whole life to her three children, raising them alone in a foreign US as her husband worked overseas. She managed her own business while supporting her children in all their endeavors, from waking up at 4 am to drive Tiki and Miller to hockey practice to moving across states to provide more opportunities for Angela's skating dreams. It's difficult to be compassionate while working so hard, and yet she is the most selfless person we know. Friends remember Lily as a breath of fresh air in often overwhelming spaces, and she was always a loyal and reliable shoulder to lean on.
The news still feels unreal to our family. We are asking for donations for memorial expenses, plus to support Tiki and Miller in their academic and athletic endeavors. Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.
