In loving memory of Marc Viray

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Marc Rodrigo Viray, who transitioned from this earth unexpectedly on April 25, 2024. He was a loving and dedicated husband to Efleda Brillantes Viray, father to Myrene, Marcus and Myke and grandpa (“grumpE”) to Myla, Madizen, Penelope, and Jace.

Marc served many other roles– son, brother, cousin, uncle, in-law, friend, co-worker, etc. He lived his life taking care of others and put his family first. He worked hard at his job at the United States Postal Service in mail-sorting machine maintenance and kept busy by helping his loved ones. As a child, he helped his mother and six siblings survive by learning how to plant vegetables to help feed the family after their father passed away at the age of 40. When he met his beloved soulmate Efleda, he would love her unconditionally until his last breath, and his mother-in-law always told her that she married a God-sent angel, a saint. When he immigrated to the United States, he worked hard to help bring Efleda and their children to California, and in the meantime would visit them in the Philippines as often as he could.

When Marc was able to petition Efleda, Myrene, and Marcus to immigrate to the United States, Efleda went into labor on the plane via Philippine Airlines and gave birth to their youngest child, Myke Philippe (“Air Myke”). As many of you reading this may know, Myke’s sudden death four years ago, and now Marc’s sudden unexpected passing in such a short time frame has left the Viray family reeling with immense grief. As Marc was the main provider for his family along with Auntie Efleda, there is also difficulty in navigating this next chapter of life for the family.

Many have reached out to the family asking how they can help and give support. The easiest way is this gofundme so we can honor Uncle Marc’s legacy appropriately and give him the memorial that he deserves and say our last goodbye.
