In Loving Memory of Maria Sullivan
Donation protected
A dear friend to many, Maria Sullivan, moved on from this world suddenly on March 25th, 2024. With her sudden passing, she has left behind many loved ones, in particular her daughter Chanda Prater.
Maria and Chanda were incredibly close, a mother/daughter team. Both very independent for most of their lives. For close to two decades they lived on different coasts, yet despite physical distance they remained deeply tied together. Those that knew Maria knew how special this bond between mother and daughter was, is.
But as life happens, in recent years they each simultaneously suffered a decline in not only their physical health, but also to their financial stability in this unstable economy and the constant rise in cost of living. In November 2022 Chanda was diagnosed with congenital heart failure with atrial fibrillation. At that time her doctors deemed her physically unable to work and since that time her only means of income has been fixed social security disability. Maria also found herself with a slew of health concerns limiting their abilities to secure sufficient income.
After her diagnosis, Chanda made the decision to leave her support network and move back to the East Coast to be closer to Maria in hopes to tackle their struggles together, as a mother/daughter team. At this time their focus was working together to overcome their health issues and attempt to level out financially. Chanda moved in with Maria, sharing a small space to limit the financial burden on them as individuals.
But in life we are often thrown curves into our well thought out plans. Overnight, Chanda lost her partner, her emotional support, her best friend, her mom.
Chanda is doing the very best she can to maneuver through this sudden loss, while managing her own health and financial issues independently. But with this loss being absolutely unexpected, this has not only left her with the deepest grief to process, but immediate financial burdens.
We are asking anyone that knew or loved this inseparable duo, or those who feel called to help, to donate what they can to help cover already mounting expenses. These funds will be used to help cover costs associated with end-of-life arrangements for Maria including cremation and future Celebration of Life, but also to tend to things that were left undone including immediate rent, car costs, medication costs and general basic needs.
On behalf of Chanda, she is eternally grateful for the support.
We need each other more now than ever <3
