It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking story of the passing of not just our best friend Betty’s beloved husband, Martin Cazares, but also her dear brother Fernando Rodriguez. Tragically, on Monday, October 16th, a fateful evening in Lodi, CA, two lives were senselessly taken from us.

The loss of Martin and Fernando in this senseless act of violence has left their families shattered. Anyone who knew Martin understood the depth of his love and devotion to his wife and kids. Martin was a loving husband, great father, brother, uncle & kind friend.

Martin was not just a hardworking man; he was the epitome of family dedication. He found immense joy in making people laugh and embraced life to the fullest. Martin's generosity knew no bounds; he was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His absence has left a void that cannot be filled, especially for his wife Betty and their three children, daughters Valeria (13), and Mireya (12), and son Mateo (5).

As the sole breadwinner for his family, Martin's passing has left Betty in a daunting position, especially as she searches for employment. These upcoming months are not only excruciating emotionally but also financially challenging. Losing a husband is an immense burden on its own, but to lose a brother on the same day is beyond words.

We have created this GoFundMe campaign to provide immediate support for Betty and her children during this difficult period. Our goal is to alleviate the financial strain on her as she navigates the challenges of grief and transitions to a new chapter in her life. The funds will help cover immediate expenses (mortgage, bills and daily necessities) and provide financial stability, allowing Betty to focus on healing and supporting her children.

La pérdida de Martin y Fernando en este acto de violencia sin sentido ha dejado a sus familias destrozadas. Cualquiera que conociera a Martin comprendía la profundidad de su amor y devoción por su esposa e hijos. Martin fue un esposo amoroso, excelente padre, hermano, tío y amable amigo.

Martin no era solo un hombre trabajador; él encarnaba la dedicación familiar en su máxima expresión. Encontraba inmenso placer en hacer reír a la gente y abrazaba la vida al máximo. La generosidad de Martin no conocía límites; siempre fue el primero en ayudar a cualquiera que lo necesitara.
