In Loving Memory of Mayra Cecilia Vela
Hello Family and Friends,
I am writing on behalf of my Tio Tony, Eric, and Amer Vela. For our Tia Cecilia who we all know and love so much.
Mayra Cecilia Vela, a medical assistant and life-long resident of National City, California, died peacefully in her sleep on August 13th, 2021, at the age of 53. Cecilia had a long two-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
She was born in National City, CA, on March 31st, 1968, daughter of Raul Melero and Josefina Melero. She was class of 1987 from Sweetwater High School. She is survived by her spouse, Tony Vela, and her two children, Eric Vela and Amarige Vela. She is also survived by her 5 siblings, Alejandro Melero, Luis Melero, Lourdes Vela, Adrian Melero, and Martiza Gaxiola, and her many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
One of her happiest moments would be marrying the love of her life, to Tony Vela on September 28th, 1989, and raising her pride and joy, Eric and Amarige into great, responsible young adults. One of her major accomplishments was working as a Medical Assistant with Kaiser Permanente, in the Pediatrics Department, for 23 years where she has made a great impact on everyone she had worked with. Cecilia loved cooking, going to the desert to ride off-road vehicles, spending time with family, going to the beach, going to Disney Land, and going to her brother Alex’s Ranch in Santa Veronica.
She was loved deeply by all her family, friends, and co-workers. She will really be missed.
Due to Cecilia’s wishes, there will be no formal services, a GoFundMe will be made to assist with financial hardships the family has incurred.
