Hello, I’m writing this because GoFundMe wants to make sure that the organizer of “In loving memory of Melissa Lopez” (Diana Perez) will give all donations to the intended recipient: Melissa’s parents/family.
I’m not related to the Lopez family, but Melissa was a dear friend of mine. We were on the same team throughout all of high school, and quickly developed a close friendship. Her passing was very sudden and it affected her family tremendously, but also the whole wrestling team- as we are our own family as well. When we heard of the devastating news, the wrestling team wanted to help out Melissa’s family in any way that they could. We decided to start a GoFundMe page for her funeral expenses- and I, Diana Perez, being the main organizer for this page. I created this page with the help from the wrestling team, to raise money for her funeral expenses due to her death being so sudden and we wanted to try our hardest to take away that financial struggle funerals can sometimes cause. I plan on withdrawing all the money to my personal banking account, and when that money is transferred to my account it will be my top priority to hand all of that money that was raised, straight to her family. I plan on writing a check to her mom, Lorena. Our goal was set to $5,000 but with the huge impact that Melissa left on all of us, we raised more than that and her family couldn’t be more grateful for everybody’s generous donations and kind words. $5,000+ in donations is a lot of money to trust with someone, but If anybody wants confirmation of me giving her all of the money to her, I would be more than happy to exchange her phone number or email just so she can confirm that I indeed gave her all the money that was raised for Melissa’s funeral. On August 11, 2019, the world lost Melissa Lopez, an amazing soul.
Melissa was a daughter, sister, and an amazing friend who was loved by many. Her passing was unexpected and has affected many, especially her family.
As we grieve Melissa’s loss, we are also celebrating her life. Melissa will always be remembered for her sense of humor, strength, passion, amazing smile and colorful hair styles (that only she could pull off).❤️
More importantly, Melissa will always be remembered for the amazing wrestler she was. Melissa was admired by her teammates not only for her resilience, but her tenacity for the sport and life. Melissa will be missed, but never forgotten.
After so many years of wrestling together, the wrestling team established an unbreakable bond. We all consider each other family. After learning of Melissa’s passing, her wrestling family decided to set up this GoFundMe account to help Melissa’s parents through this difficult time as they plan Melissa’s funeral.
