In Loving Memory of Nancy Victoria McKee

We are raising money in loving memory of Nancy McKee, loved daughter, sister, partner and friend who sadly took her own life in May 2019, at the age of 23 after a 10 year battle with PTSD and depression.
Nancy was in and out of mental health hospitals over the last 10 years and struggled with self harm. She lost many friends to suicide along her journey and tried to help as many people as she could suffering as she was. Heartbreakingly for us all she could not see the light inside herself we all saw and took her own life on the 18th May 2019.
Those who know Nancy know her heartbreaking story, the trauma she underwent at an early age and the years of suffering that followed. Although Nancy was not in the school system after the age of 14 due to long hospital admissions she made sure she completed her GCSEs and attend college and even completed her first year of Open University with her second year of her Law degree starting at Brunel University this September. She was so intelligent and worked hard independently to achieve amazing results.
Nancy was an avid writer and kept diaries of her life story over the 10 years she spent in and out of hospitals. She also wrote a large amount of poetry and started writing her life story. We would love the opportunity to get Nancy's work published and get her story out there in the world with the hope of helping anyone else who is contemplating suicide and maybe Nancy's darkest moments can be used to help someone else out of theirs.
We hope to use the money donated to also get justice for Nancy as well as tell her story and help her family, we want to find out why as a patient of a NHS mental health hospital at the time, this happened to Nancy and unfortunately many other young people at the same facility. We hope to highlight the key issues within the mental health system today and do what we can to change things for the better so less families can go through what we have been through.
