In Loving Memory of Nelda Mireya Maximiliano

Donation protected
We are the children of Nelda Mireya Maximiliano, and it is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of our mother’s unexpected passing on October 21, 2024. We had all been hopeful for her recovery, and her sudden departure has left us utterly shattered.

Our mother faced ongoing medical challenges with extraordinary bravery, navigating the care of multiple specialists in hematology/oncology, nephrology, and endocrinology. She had regular dialysis appointments and fought tirelessly against her conditions. Recently, she was hospitalized for what we thought was a blocked fistula. Unfortunately, her condition quickly deteriorated. She became septic, leading to an exhausting battle with extremely low platelet counts despite numerous transfusions, countless procedures, and endless testing.

Throughout this difficult time, my brother Sergio continuously traveled to and from Las Vegas to be with our mother. This added an unexpected financial burden for him and his family, as he had to juggle supporting our mother’s health while also providing for his own family. At times, he had to fly or drive out to California multiple times a week, which only compounded the stress and financial strain we were already experiencing.

While we managed to arrange most of her pre-need burial services after our father passed in 2020 during the pandemic, we now find ourselves facing a mountain of unexpected medical bills and additional funeral costs. Although we prepared as much as we could, the financial strain of these unforeseen expenses is overwhelming, especially during this painful time.

Nelda was a loving and selfless person who touched the lives of everyone around her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support were constants in our lives and the lives of so many others. We are incredibly grateful for any support you can offer. Every donation will help us honor her memory and provide her with the farewell she deserves.

Additionally, any extra funds raised will be directed to MemorialCare’s Guardian Angel program. Our mother received exceptional care at Saddleback Memorial, and we are deeply grateful to the staff who ensured she was cared for in her final days.

Thank you for your love and support as we navigate this heartbreaking journey. Your generosity will not only help us through this difficult time but will also keep our mother's spirit alive in our hearts forever.
