In Loving Memory of Petra Herrera

Last Tuesday 08/10/21 was the last time, my friend Marissa and her siblings were able to say goodbye to their mom. Sadly, Petra who was 60 yrs old lost the fight against a rapidly growing cancer which spread to her bloodstream damaging her liver, kidney and lungs. She was a strong hard working single mom who migrated from Mexico in a spirit of achieving a better quality life in this country where she had her 3 daughters and a son.

For a long time, being a single mom she had to work hard trying to make ends meet and setting a good example for her children. She was a very caring mother who supported her children to go to school and work hard even though they have no close relative around. It was only my friend, her siblings and their mom in the picture making the best of what they had. Besides being a mother, she was also a grandmother who loved and cared for her grandchildren.

Petra will be remembered as an amazing, caring, hardworking mom and grandma. She was a fighter who pushed forward till the end.
