In loving memory of Phyllis Ann Pesek

Many of you know my grandmother Phyllis as God-fearing, loving, wise, knowledgable, and the list goes on. Everyone she encountered was touched by the light she radiated. She spoke nothing but life and truth into the people she encountered. She shared the gospel of Jesus anytime she had the chance and loved the Word of God. Her legacy of faithful servanthood to Christ our Savior will live on through generations.

Unfortunately, about six weeks ago we received the devastating news that she was sick with cancer for the second time after 10 years of remission from colorectal cancer. After testing and imaging, they determined that it was stage four high-grade, large B cell lymphoma. This sort of cancer is very aggressive and fast spreading. We met with the Oncologist to discuss what the treatment looked like on June 1st. During the morning hours of June 4th, she was hospitalized because her spleen had ruptured due to cancer.

Nan was rushed to emergency surgery where they had to coil her spleen to attempt to stop the blood flow to the organ. She was then deemed unstable and placed on a ventilator to keep her alive. Since that day Nan has been fighting kidney and liver failure along with trouble breathing due to the build-up of fluid in her lungs from three different viral infections.

Doctors and clinical staff worked relentlessly at her bedside to nurture Nan back to health for seven days. They did multiple rounds of dialysis to attempt to clear the septic waste from her body and hopefully aid the kidneys in functioning again. They gave her steroids and antibiotics to help fight the infections in her body. However, it was unsuccessful.

My grandmother will go to be with Jesus where there is no more pain and suffering and cancer does not exist. This has been very hard on the family as she leaves behind her husband of 41 years, 4 adult children, 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. We are all heartbroken at the news and the reality that the "glue" to our family will no longer be here with us. We ask that you would help us in any way possible with cremation/memorial costs. More information will be posted at a later date in regards to a memorial/gathering that honor my Nanny's (Phyllis) wishes.

Please say prayers for us as we mourn the loss of such an amazing soul that will go on to live in eternity with her heavenly Father.

Thank you.
