In loving memory of Rebecca Adelman for Rory&Finn
Donation protected
Donations raised during this campaign will go directly to the Rebecca M. Adelman Memorial Trust f/b/o Rory and Finn Adelman, as specified in Rebecca's obituary: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/chicagotribune/obituary.aspx?n=rebecca-m-adelman&pid=196112985
Our beloved Rebecca (Bess) Adelman died in a car accident on Wednesday, April 22nd, leaving behind the love of her life, Caroline, and her two precious boys.
Rebecca was a constant source of hard-won optimism for the people who were lucky to know her-- and to know her was to love her. Whip smart, with a ready laugh and a quick response to any query, she taught everyone around her to wear their burdens a little more lightly, to look for what is special in the world, and to find the most intense joy in family, work, and community. We will love her forever.
Rebecca was a graduate of Homewood Flossmoor High School, Wellesley College, and the School of Nursing at Johns Hopkins University. She loved learning, and we know her boys already do, too.
Rebecca worked on the first Obama presidential campaign and then joined the Department of Health and Human Services before deciding her passion was direct healthcare. She became a nurse and then quickly rose to be the NICU Patient Care Director at New York Presbyterian, working on the front lines with that same optimism and determination.
Rebecca died early in a career doing what she loved - practicing medicine under the most complex and daunting conditions, and being part of something larger than herself. It’s a legacy of hers: doing something with all her might and energy and dedication.
To honor her, we are asking for donations that will go directly to Rory and Finn to support them as they grow and pursue their own dreams.
Love,
Beth Merfish (Wellesley) and Erin Fitzgerald (HHS)
