In Loving Memory of Shaun Michael

On the evening of Saturday, November 6, 2021, our colleague, Shaun Michael, was en route home to Kamloops, BC following the completion of an emergency telecommunications repair. A preliminary police investigation has indicated that a truck veered into Shaun’s path on the Bruhn Bridge in Sicamous, BC, resulting in a tragic and fatal collision. Shaun leaves behind his wife, Tanya, two beautiful, young daughters, Jadyn and Harley, and is predeceased by his young son, Trace.

 

A telecom veteran and well-respected in the industry, Shaun initially commenced his career as a telephone lineman with TELUS, advancing to a Field Construction Manager before joining the Global Broadband team in the summer of 2018. Without exception, we knew Shaun as a man that was always willing to help. His professionalism and true dedication to his trade and his team ensured project and network success across Western Canada. Shaun was a man who lived by his convictions. He was dependable and loyal. Shaun was our friend, and he will forever be remembered.

 

We have received an outpouring of kindness from those that knew and had the opportunity to work with Shaun. He has been described as a good, honest and caring man. A hard worker with a passion for life. Above all, Shaun is most remembered for the love of his family. He was a man that absolutely adored his wife, his girls and his dog, Kane.

 

By his family and those who knew him best, Shaun will be remembered as a grill expert that loved to smoke meat; a talented woodworker and builder that often had a project on the go; and a man that truly enjoyed the outdoors. Shaun was a dad that loved to kayak with his girls. He was a dedicated husband that spoke of his loved ones with complete pride and a smile in his eyes.
