In loving memory of Vanson (Nghia) Nguyen

Good Evening Everyone,

My name is Brian Nguyen, I am the oldest child of my father Vanson Nguyen (Pictured in the middle). This past week I have had to endure a lot of heartaches as my dad passed away early afternoon on November 16th, 2021. He was always motivated to go above and beyond for our family and friends.

My father was an immigrant from the country of Vietnam. He came to this country seeking a dream. During that time he worked from the bottom and moved his way to the top. He, later on, got married to my mother Loan Chau, and had two children. We spent most of my young childhood life back in our home state of New Hampshire until I was about 12 years old and finally moved to South Georgia shortly after I turned 13.

He moved to Georgia to pursue his dreams of opening up his own business. He opened up a small nail salon in the small town of Thomasville, GA. For years he and my mother have been running that small nail shop alone to try to provide for our small family. We've gone through many struggles with the small business and lots of setbacks. Through all those obstacles, he never looked back on them and kept moving forward. He was the staple that kept us together as a family.

I never really had the best childhood growing up. I was always bullied for being skinny and Asian especially living in South Georgia. I tried to fit in as much as I could. I came home from middle school one day crying and my dad saw me and asked me "what's wrong?". I answered, "I hate living here and I have no friends." He simply told me to keep working as hard as I could to achieve the things I wanted to see in my life. Until this day I hold that to heart.

My father had open-heart surgery 3 months ago due to a heart attack. The doctor put him on lots of medication for high blood pressure. He was already in very frail condition but continued to attempt to work every day from 9 AM to 7 PM. Fast forward to Tuesday of November 16th, he suffered a blood clot in one of his lungs causing his system to shut down completely.

I can't even fathom how hard it is right now for my mother. My father was the one handling all of the bills/businesses but with his sudden death, it's now been passed on to my mother. Sadly, we have to close down the business my dad built with his sudden passing and figure out what's next for my family.

He leaves behind my mother (Loan Chau), brother (Kevin Nguyen), myself, and our beloved 89-year-old grandmother who we've been caring for. The holiday season is looking a little different for my family but I am so grateful for everyone that has reached out in this time of need.

All funds will be allocated to my mother to help pay for bills, the closing of our shop, and memorial/cremation costs, and my mother's wishes to fly back to Vietnam to spread his ashes on the farm he was raised on.

I appreciate any donation whether it's small or big or even kind words to my family during this time of need.
