In loving memory of Will

Donation protected
In the early hours of Tuesday, 13 December, my brother-in-law Will Link was rushed to the emergency room in an ambulance. My sister Courtney had woken next to him and realised he wasn’t breathing and didn’t have a pulse. She followed him in the ambulance and when she arrived at the hospital she was told that they were very sorry but they weren’t able to start his heart again. He was 39 years old and in apparent perfect health.

We now know that Will was victim of a fluke arrhythmia. This is when your heart beats abnormally, and most often is not life threatening, but Will was one who was just unlucky.

For those of you that didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Will, he was the kind of guy that would do anything to help others. He was an eternal optimist and one of the most laidback people you would ever meet. Incredibly smart, witty, humble, friendly and caring. It’s insanely tragic and heartbreaking knowing that we won’t have the opportunity to see him again.

This has obviously come as a huge shock to the entire family, particularly to Courtney who has been with Will since they were 18 and 19 years old. They’ve been a team for 21 years.

On top of the extreme shock and grief that Courtney is going through right now, she’s also faced with a brutal financial reality. The reality is this:

Courtney lost her job after becoming seriously ill from Covid twice. Will was working and able to support them with his salary before he passed away. This has all been cut off with immediate effect. And even worse, at 39 years old and in apparent good health, Will hadn’t written a will, which means Courtney has no access to any of their finances until it goes through probate. This could take up to 12 months.

Courtney will get back on her feet, but this will take time. I’m writing to ask for your support, to help Courtney through this difficult time. She’s not one to ask for help, so I am. I’m writing to ask you to help her keep her house.

Thank you for your support and kindness. Please forward this on if you don’t mind, I know Courtney would appreciate any help she could get.
