In memorial of Dave Costello

For those who knew Dave Costello was larger than life, an enormous ball of loving, caring, selfless, funny and outgoing energy. He was the the life of many parties and hard to miss with his big smile and bright blue eyes. He was a force of nature and an eternal optimist beating the odds and surviving thyroid cancer, taking on an LVAD heart pump to get him to Transplant where he received a Heart and Kidney while never saying a word of pain, unhappiness or questioning why he was chosen for this journey. He supported his son and helped him overcome his hurdle of a liver transplant as well by caring for him and helping him through the time. He was a friend to all and a teacher to those who needed to learn. He would never hesitate to help when asked and never asked for anything in return. His wife Audrey was beyond a doubt the love of his life as they spent 38 years very happily married . He also loved his family with all of his heart, he enjoyed being on the water, fishing, filling and watching his bird feeders, volunteering with LifeSource MN speaking about organ and tissue donation, spending time with his friends and grand children and sunset rides in the mustang.
Unfortunately in early November he received a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and was still quick to say "if it were not for the mayo clinic I wouldn't have had the last 8 years and I would not have gotten to know my grandchildren" again showing a brave face to those around him. Unfortunately on Sunday December 11th he lost his fight with cancer and returned home to the Lord where he will join his mother Maxine and father Charles.
We his family would like any memorials to go to The Gift of Life Transplant house in Rochester MN. He and his family spent time staying there while visiting the Mayo Clinic for his health. Of course he found a second home of sorts while taking care of and being cared for himself. If you would like more information on The Gift of Life Transplant house their website is www.http://gift-of-life.org/
The Gift of Life house is an amazing place which offers a housing alternative for those who are dealing with major health issues while attending the Mayo Clinic. They allow patients and caregivers a comfortable, low cost place close to the hospitals to stay as opposed to a hotel or driving back and fourth daily.
Also if you are not already an organ donor, please consider becoming one and registering either online at
https://www.organdonor.gov/register.html Or the next time you renew your liscence at the DMV. Thank you.
