In memorial of Edwin Ordonez

Some people just light up a room, and Edwin Ordonez was that person. Seventeen years ago, Edwin was hired at the Danbury War Memorial, where he worked in many roles leading up to ultimately becoming the Interim Director. He was good at what he did, and while only 27 years old he embodied the wisdom and humility of a man much older. Edwin worked at many other community organizations in Danbury and prioritized serving the Community of Danbury while also providing for his family. The community was so important to him, and he forged his career by making an impact on others. His legacy will also be felt in Ridgefield as Edwin also worked for the Ridgefield Public Schools at Scotland Elementary School and, more recently, Ridgefield High School. Edwin always volunteered for all the veteran events and ceremonies greatly appreciated by the city of Danbury Veterans Affairs Office and Danny Hayes. Unfortunately, on August 2, 2022, Edwin was in a terrible accident and tragically succumbed to his injuries. Without warning, he was taken from his family and the communities who loved him. He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Aracely and 4-month-old daughter, Sarah. Everyone Edwin knew can attest to how he could light up a room when he walked in by greeting everyone with a big smile and a wave. You knew when you called on Edwin to help; he would never hesitate and just drop what

he was doing to get the job done. While we can never replace Edwin, his daughter and wife will need to move forward without his physical presence and guidance. How wonderful would it be for them to feel the warmth and support of all who knew and loved him as they figure out this new life without him. His family and the communities of Ridgefield, Danbury, and beyond will miss him dearly. All funds collected will go directly to Edwin’s wife and daughter to help with their future living and educational needs.
