In Memoriam of Kip Burrell
Donation protected
On Saturday, July 15th 2017, Kip and Stacey Burrell, of Anderson, SC, were thrown from their boat on Lake Hartwell when a strong thunderstorm began to make its way into the area. Luckily, there was a boat passing by that noticed Stacey in the water and pulled her to safety, but Kip couldn't been seen. Over the next 2 weeks countless numbers of volunteers and specialized equipment from agencies across county and state lines joined together in the search for Kip Burrell. Lake Hartwell being a man-made lake brought many challenges; one of them being that when the lake was made, massive trees were chopped in half, left where they had fallen, and still remain there today. Without the proper funding it's almost impossible for these agencies to be able to get their hands on the latest and most effective equipment that would allow for the best possible outcome during every key moment in these search and rescue operations.
Donations may be made through this Go Fund Me account so that the proceeds can be used to hire a professional agency to continue in searching for Kip and also to assist Anderson County agencies in purchasing search and rescue equipment. Lake Hartwell spans 56,000 acres of water and 962 miles of shoreline that covers portions of South Carolina and Georgia. With the deepest section of the lake reaching 202 feet, more sophisticated equipment is needed to help with drownings. All the proceeds will be used to hire a professional agency that specializes in recovering drowning victims and all additional funds will be used to aid the County in purchasing this specialized equipment.
