In Memoriam of Peter Kyte

Welcome to our family's page in memoriam of Peter Kyte, beloved husband and father.
In May of 2021 Peter was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer, without significant symptoms. As anyone would, he immediately started coordinating with the best oncology centers in New York City to undergo extensive tests, long-term chemo treatment plans, and transplant preparations.
Unfortunately, his liver cancer was more extensive than anyone originally realized. Over the course of the five months he experienced a significant decline in health despite everyone's best efforts and treatments, and on Monday, September 20, 2021 he succumbed to his illness. He was not in any pain, and left this world comfortable and at home in his sleep.
If you knew Pete, you knew what a warm spirit he was. He loved hanging out with friends and family, sharing stories of Woodstock and the 'golden years,' playing golf, and watching the NY Mets, Jets, and Rangers (Potvin Sucks!). And as a skilled piansit and lover of music, he enjoyed the time he spent playing with his band, Fall Out; if there was a piano nearby, Peter was going to play at least one song (or a couple if you'd let him!). Many songs his own kids don't know the words to, but if they hear a tune they'll say "hey, dad played that!" He taught his kids not only great music, but his mantra of living life to the beat of your own drum. Do what makes you happy.
Born in the Bronx on February 27, 1951, Peter was the son of the late Walter and Dianne (Rankin), and grew up in Ossining, NY playing baseball. He was a graduate of Babson University's business school, living in the Boston area for several years, and later owned and operated Candix, Inc. in Croton-on-Hudson for over 40 years in autobody product sales. His customers weren't just clients, they were friends. That's who Pete was.
On May 16, 1987 at St. Anne’s Church in Nyack, Peter married Catherine Mary (Forman) Kyte, and they had 34 happy years of marriage together. He is survived by his wife and his daughters, Carly Kyte of Billings, MT and Kelsey Kyte and her fiancé David Blumenfeld of Boston, MA, and many other relatives, friends, and business associates.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hudson Valley Hospice, especially Javier, for their care and compassion. During Peter's final hours they supported us every step of the way, and for that we will be forever grateful.
Any funds received here will be used towards Peter's medical expenses, and to support the family. As the sole provider due to his wife's physical disabilities, his sudden death is a devastating loss in many facets. Peter expected to have many years ahead of him, where he could retire with his wife and family in peace.
We are extremely grateful for any support that can be provided, and appreciate all of the warm wishes and kindness our family has received over these recent days. Please feel free to share our site on social media, or to those who you think would like to contribute.
