In Memory and Affirmation of Norm MacPhail

Support for Sheila Ferguson in memory and affirmation of her late husband Norm MacPhail

After struggling courageously against aggressive cancer beloved husband, father and active community member Norm MacPhail passed away on October 11th 2021.

Sheila Ferguson, his loving wife, devoted herself to easing the burdens of Norm’s fight against cancer and managing all the complex needs and expenses from ongoing tests and treatments.

Sheila herself was injured in a multi car accident last winter when headed to Calgary for Norm's treatment. This accident increased their financial and physical burden with both Norm and Sheila needing treatment.

I created this go fund me for two reasons, first to give us, Norm and Sheila’s friends and family a way to affirm Norm and his life with Sheila and a member of our community. Second, to help with the significant financial burden Sheila has been left with.

Anyone who has had a seriously ill loved one knows that insurance does not cover many of the costs associated with advanced stage treatments or with maintaining the quality of life and dignity of their lives as long as possible.

Funeral costs and associated services are a further added expense and even when very frugally managed add greatly to a household budget bearing the costs of intensive healthcare and patient support.

Together the financial demands of treating a serious illness, such as dressings, medication, personal care items, and health related travel that are not covered by insurance, the serious car accident and related treatments and funeral costs often quickly and greatly surpass savings and insured expenses.

Sheila is now dealing with personal grief and paying for all these things while being on medical leave from her job. I’m inviting you to join me in affirming and celebrating Norm’s life by donating to Sheila to help with all these unexpected and uncovered costs. The need is much larger than the $1000 dollar goal set only as a base marker. Any donation big or small will help and will be greatly appreciated!
