Running the Coventry Half Marathon in memory of Afaf x

Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of AFAF ABOVE THE WATER and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

I'm hoping to raise £500 for Afaf Above the Water in memory of a beautiful lady called Afaf Ahmed, who tragically lost her life last year.

Afaf was a talented young lady who loved to perform and dance and was beautiful inside and out, always there to help others, always happy and had a joy for life. Sadly after a tragic accident whilst on holiday with her mum and friends, Afaf lost her life at the tender age of 18 and just as she was about to embark on a Biomedical Sciences degree at Liverpool University.

My daughter, Macy and I had the privilege of meeting Afaf at a local drama club called Elevate in Coventry. Afaf gave up her time to help the young children with their dancing routines and showed such warmth, understanding and compassion to every member of the club. Macy absolutely adored her. Afaf also attended the same school as Macy and although older than her she always had time to talk with her, guide her and help her with her passion for drama, giving her great advice and confidence for her performances. We often watched Afaf in school productions and were in awe with her talent, her energy and presence on the stage.

Since her passing her lovely mum, Hanan and Auntie, Amel together with Afaf's dear friends have dedicated an enormous amount of time in forming this charity and organising local events to raise as much money as possible to help all walks of life, both young, old and vulnerable and both locally and world wide and also offer support to those families going through bereavement.

I can't begin to imagine what Afaf's family and friends are going through so in order to help raise as much money as possible I have decided to run my very first half marathon in Coventry at the tender age of 54. I know Afaf will be with me in spirit along with her wonderful family and friends.

  • I will never forget the day I had to tell Macy of Afaf's passing and she said to me "why is it always the good people that get taken mum?"I didn't know how to reply but what I do know is that Afaf will forever be in our hearts and every penny raised will help her family keep her memory alive.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page.
