In Memory of Agents Schwartzenberger and Alfin

The FBI is reeling after the brutal murder of Special Agents Laura Schwartzenberger and Daniel Alfin who were gunned-down in pursuit of sexual predators on February 2, 2021 - one of the deadliest days in FBI history.
Special Agents Schwartzenberger and Alfin devoted their careers investigating crimes against children, an abyss where evil thrives and only the strongest among us dare to enter. Every day, these guardians carried their shields into this abyss and fought with strength and courage to rescue children and deliver them from these wicked villains.
Special Agent Laura Schwartzenberger worked under the radar, teaching children and adults how to avoid online sexual exploitation, while Special Agent Alfin led a team that shut down a major worldwide child pornography website. Three children, ages between 4 – 11, have one less parent today. Two dedicated public servants and American heroes are forever lost. SA Schwartzenberger, 43, is survived by a husband and two children. SA Alfin, 36, is survived by a wife and one child. As FBI Miami Special Agent-in-Charge George Piro remarked at a press conference about the tragic event: "It takes an incredibly special person to answer the call and do the heroic work of an FBI special agent. It requires self-sacrifice. It requires putting oneself in harm’s way, not once, but again and again. As we grieve their loss we will continue our mission to protect the American people.”
