In memory of Aimee McLean

An unexpected tragedy struck our family on Sunday morning, February 19th. My brother lost his best friend. The world lost a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, daughter, nurse/coworker and friend. The tremendous grief we all feel may fade over time but Aimee will never be forgotten. As expected, friends and family want to know how best to help during this devastating time and while the kind words, support, and gifts that have already been received are greatly appreciated, this fundraiser will continue to help provide their children the life that Aimee and Josh wanted to give them.
Josh is doing his best and remaining strong for their children. He has a vast support system and truly cherishes everyone's concerns. Please know he is not ignoring anyone, so for those inquiring "What happened!?", short and simple, we truly do not know.
Aimee had an incident at work on Friday where she fainted. Her awesome coworkers came to her aide and despite their insistence to get checked out, Aimee's selflessness for her children kicked in and she asked to be taken home so she could prep for her son Oliver's birthday party that evening. Saturday went by and more birthday celebrations were had. Josh continuously checked in with Aimee and she insisted she was fine. Typical nurse/mother behavior to make sure everyone else was taken care of. Josh woke up (or rather Gwen woke him up) and he brought his daughter in to wake up her favorite person in the whole universe, Aimee. Then our world was changed forever when he had to make the dreadful 911 call after she had fainted a second time. Emergency personnel were swift and did everything they could to resuscitate her. She was transported to St. Rita's with Josh shortly behind but despite all efforts made she was pronounced dead at 8:53 am. An autopsy is being performed so we may be provided with some answers and more importantly to determine if there is a genetic component to her demise for the well-being of her children.
Josh and Aimee have only been married a few months on Josh's birthday, October 28th. However, they had started building a life together from the moment they met. Aimee was Josh's "person" and vice versa. They both have children from previous relationships but they always made sure all the kids felt loved equally. Robert, Ollie, Charlee, Rowan, and Gwen were THEIR kids no matter the circumstances. Josh and Aimee purchased a home in Laurel Oaks over a year ago and have worked endlessly to make it their dream home. They even wrote a heartfelt letter to the previous owner about how much it meant to them to have this home for their family.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the funds raised will contribute to keeping the children healthy, safe and happy, towards funeral and medical expenses, and most of all residing in this home they built together.
