In Memory Of Alan Wilkinson - 'Wilkie'
Donation protected
On the 1st of July 1978, Alan Wilkinson the captain of the Belle Vue Aces Speedway team crashed at the world famous Belle Vue track. He would never walk again. He was 29 years old and had been married for only 6 years.
He was confined to a wheelchair for 42 pain racked years with his devoted wife Jean by his side, caring for him 24/7 x 365 days per year. They battled through their new existence and made life the best they possibly could. No holidays, plenty of hospital stays and 50+ operations.
Alan sadly went through the chequered flag for the last time and passed away on Friday 24th July. He was 71. He had spent far more years in a wheelchair than he ever had out of it.
He leaves behind an Angel in human form. His wife Jean is the most utterly selfless, caring and kind individual on the planet. She now faces expenses that everyone in this position has to face.
I am calling on the magnificent fans of speedway to dig deep and to contribute if you can in memory of not just a fabulous speedway rider but a great human being.
Whatever you could contribute would be received with the upmost gratitude and will ease a burden at this sad time.
